TLP’s 2018 – A Year in Review

TLP’s 2018 – A Year in Review

2018 was a big year for The Love Pit (TLP)!! Rescue is not always the easiest path because it takes dedication, hard work, determination, a lot of sleepless nights. You have to be willing to take the bad with all the good. 2018 tested us individually and as a group. We had a lot of success stories, adoptions and challenges!

With each dog that is rescued comes a different story and 2018 was no different. We had some real doozies this year but these stories are why TLP does what we do. So without further ado, below are updates from of our most shared stories of 2018.

Monica & FRIENDS Babies:

We found Monica in the shelter with her litter of pups. All of Monica’s babies were adopted (YAY!) however Monica is still looking for her forever home! (I know, we can’t figure it out either!!)

Shiner (ADOPTED):

Shiner came to us with some medical issues and malnourished but he never gave up. It was worth it because we are happy to report that Shiner is very happy in his new forever home! YAY! Go Shiner Go!

Annabelle & Ellie:

Annabelle came to us from Dallas Animal Services pregnant, sick and in dire need of an angel. After birthing 9 puppies (yes, you read that right, 9!!) She ended up developing milk fever that led to mastitis, a triple mastectomy and pancreatitis.

Enter Ellie:

Read their whole story HERE.

Annabelle is now available for adoption and her bio is located HERE.

Ellie is also now available for adoption! Her bio is located HERE.

Beaux (ADOPTED):

Beaux is a special boy and we knew his family would be special. He had quite the back story. You can read it HERE.

Just as we had hoped and dreamed, Beaux’s luck finally came through for him. 2018 brought us that special family for Beaux and he was ADOPTED! Go Beaux Go!

Click HERE for his adoption announcement.

River (ADOPTED):

River came to us with no use of his back legs. We aren’t sure what happened to him but we weren’t giving up on him! With lots of therapy, love and attention River recovered and in 2018 found his forever family! Go River Go!

Click HERE for his adoption announcement.

When TLP found Angel, she was missing a leg with bone exposed. She had a successful surgery to amputate and is currently recovering. Once Angel is off medical hold, she will be available for adoption. Click HERE for her bio.

Belle (ADOPTED):

Belle came to TLP with some previous traumatizing injuries AND heartworm positive. The shelter performed the first surgery and TLP was able to get her the remaining medical treatments she needed. Click HERE for her story.   (WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Belle was adopted in 2018 and is now known as Zorel! Her update is located HERE.

Go Belle Go!

Juno was found wondering the street with a large chain around her neck. We just couldn’t leave that sweet face. She was diagnosed with Demodex Mange (which causes hair loss and skin infections) and conjunctivitis in her eyes from being underweight and malnourished. With some care she is really turning out to be a beautiful and normal puppy! She is currently working on her training and will be available for adoption soon.

Juno’s bio page is located HERE.

Earlier I mentioned those stories that don’t turn out the way we always want. Bodhi was one of those stories. His story is located in the link below and could not be told better than it is HERE.

Those of you that followed Bodhi’s story and donated to his care, Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.

With these amazing stories comes the not so pretty side of rescue; VET BILLS! On average in 2018, TLP spent approximately $8K a month on medical bills. However, when there are medical emergencies, this number can and does rise significantly. TLP absolutely could not do this without it’s people pack. That is YOU! In times of need, our people pack has responded with diligence and always comes through! So, from all of us here at TLP, THANK YOU! We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
